Our growth has created a need for a Forestry/Horticultural Resident Engineer preferably with parks department capital projects, buildings experience. We have positions in Manhattan, Brooklyn Staten Island and the Bronx.



The Forestry/Horticultural Resident Engineer will assume complete responsibility for the supervision of the construction work and the related contract administrative requirements.  Additionally, this position will oversee the work of all construction personnel, certify that the work meets the DOB’s special and progress inspection requirements as they occur, schedule inspections with the Special Inspection Agency, and secure the approval of the Special Inspection Agency and subsequent DOB certification.


 Supervision/Inspection Services

  • Daily and Weekly Reporting
  • Inspection of the Work
  • Coordination between Contractors and Foresters
  • Ability to take field measurements
  • Northeast Plant Identification

Contract Administration

  • Payment Processing
  • Change Order Preparation
  • Correspondence
  • Monitoring Contract Cost and Schedule
  • Documentation of Contractor Performance
  • Qualifications:



  • Experience with parks department capital projects is preferred
  • The Resident Engineer must have basic knowledge of forestry/horticulture, preferably of native and invasive flora of the Northeast
  • Professional certification/accreditation in Forestry and or Horticulture is strongly preferred
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing to overall team success
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Google Drive, and Bluebeam, and/or an ability to quickly become proficient in computer programs
  • Must be able to work in the field, balancing computer work and on-site demands
  • Vehicle ownership preferred
