We are seeking talented and motivated professionals to join our multi-disciplined team. Our growth in California has created a need for a Construction Project Engineer. 


The Project Engineer (PE) for the CDCR HCFIP projects shall support the Field Managers acting in the position of Owner’s Representative and Construction Manager (CM).  For the CDCR HCFIP projects the Owner and client is the State of California, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.  The PE’s main focus will be to manage and monitor the submittal and RFI process, including but not limited to the following tasks:

  • Establish procedures for processing documents, RFI’s and submittals
  • Review content of RFI’s and submittals, confirm submitted documents relate to contract documents/specifications, any current dialog regarding conditions, issue resolution, approvals, etc.
  • Upload and/or transmit submitted documents for review and response
  • Manage and produce archives of submitted documents
  • Analyze and identify appropriate reviewers including those outside the immediate AE team, parallel reviewers, institution, etc.
  • Follow up on status of responses, reviews and/or deliverables from General contractor, AE, etc.
  • Correct any errors or anomalies as they are identified
  • Create and archive documents for tracking (transmittal documents)
  • Provide accurate data for project team
  • Interact as needed with client, consultant team, contractor, and/or institution


The PE will also assist Field Managers on tasks as assigned potentially including, but not limited to:

  • Compiling narrative daily reports of field progress; coordination with inspectors
  • Estimating for change orders, developing technical scopes of work, and change order control processing
  • Scheduling and schedule analysis
  • Reporting project control systems and technical report writing
  • Developing and tracking punch lists
  • Monitoring as-builts and/or record drawings of existing conditions
  • Managing the O&M manual submissions

It is imperative that the PE possess a technical understanding of current construction and documentation practices.  The PE must communicate clearly in a professional manner in both written and verbal formats.  The PE is required to work unsupervised, shall be held accountable for deadlines and coordinate with the Field Managers and other members of the general contractor and Owner’s consultant team to prioritize tasks, evaluate practices, and maintain project momentum.

The PE will work primarily on location at the various project sites, including within the secure perimeter of active prisons, and may work remotely as needed.
