Our growth has created an immediate need for a Senior Mechanical Engineer (PE) to join our MEP design team for our Portland, Maine office.

    Responsibilities

    Senior Mechanical Engineer (PE) to join our MEP design team for our Portland, Maine office but, working out of our Boston, Massachusetts office is an option.  

    Responsibilities:

     

    • Manage design projects from client requirements to plans and specifications
    • Design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for commercial and healthcare facilities
    • Field survey of existing mechanical, fire protection, and plumbing systems
    • Preparation of construction documents including drawings, specifications, calculations, and details
    • Prepare design narrative and feasibility reports
    • Approval of mechanical submittals and aid in RFI responses during construction administration
    • Assume the Lead HVAC designer's role on assigned projects. May serve as Project Engineer on smaller, less complex projects
    • Use engineering and design computer software to complete assigned work (i.e. Autodesk Revit MEP & AutoCAD)
    • Position will require travel throughout New England and New York

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

     

    • Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering
    • 7+ years of relevant HVAC design experience
    • Current registration in the State of Maine or Commonwealth of Massachusetts with the ability to quickly attain professional registration in New York, Rhode Island and other New England States is desired
    • In depth knowledge of FGI Guidelines, ANSI/ASHRAE/ASHE Standard 170-2017 and other applicable codes
    • A working knowledge of Elite load estimating programs, Trane Trace 700 and MasterSpec is desirable
    • Ability to work independently, anticipate work flow and nurture clients
    • Ability to multi-task on multiple projects and meet strict deadlines and work well under pressure
    • Capable of providing technical direction and on-the-job training to less experienced Mechanical Engineers
    • Position requires experience in the design of electrical systems for acute care hospitals, nursing homes, outpatient surgery centers, medical office buildings, community health centers and other medical facilities as well as design of electrical systems for other architectural projects
