We currently have a need for a Corporate Counsel who will serve as member of the Company’s legal department and report to the Executive Vice President & General Counsel. The attorney in this position will be responsible for collaborating across all levels of the organization to provide legal advice both individually and together with other Legal team members and outside counsel.  This role requires the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast paced environment while juggling multiple demands.  This position is for our Syosset, LI Office.  

 

Responsibilities

  • Review, negotiate and draft contracts across a variety of business functions including, construction subcontractor agreements, professional services and supplier agreements, NDAs and other contracts
  • Review Requests for Proposals and Requests for Qualifications
  • Identify and evaluate MBE/WBE contract requirements
  • Monitor, track, and report on MBE/WBE contract and project compliance
  • Provide oversight, direction, and maintenance of general corporate compliance program
  • Review company policies and practices on a regular basis to ensure compliance
  • Oversee, maintain, review and process records for compliance and reporting requirements
  • Act as a channel of communication to receive and direct compliance issues to appropriate resources
  • Manage the day to day operation of the compliance Helpline and program
  • Identify legal risks and potential non-compliances for the Company and provide solutions for limiting exposure
  • Provide guidance on regulatory compliance matters
  • Prepare for possibility of audits and investigations by developing strategies, maintaining records, and designing procedures
  • Provide support and administration of the Company’s ESG program
  • Provide legal analysis of applicable laws, regulations and industry guidance that impact the Company
  • Provide responsive and effective legal support and guidance to the Companies business units as needed
  • Provide other in-house legal services as needed

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of legal experience with emphasis on Commercial transactions, Risk and Compliance, preferable in the construction industry and public sector area
  • Experience in drafting and reviewing contracts, transactional due diligence, and MBE/WBE contract compliance work
  • Experience in MBE/WBE contract compliance monitoring, and construction project management preferred
  • Experience in ESG program management preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with keen attention to detail
  • Superior research, interpretation, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated leadership and organizational abilities
  • General experience in abroad range of legal issues
  • Experience with Microsoft Suite including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook or comparable software applications
