Our continued growth has created an immediate need for an Mapping Technologist located in Rockland County, NY.

The client for this project is for the NYS Office of General Services (OGS).

Responsibilities

Mapping Technologist titles series will be within the Division of EPCI in the Program Management Section. The staff would perform complex mapping duties in the development and maintenance of Geographic Information Systems (GIS); use digital photogrammetric workstations for the compilation or management of mapping projects, work with digital terrain models (DTM) and orthoimagery following standard specification and procedures; perform contract vendor mapping checks, aerotriangulation measurement and adjustments, and review special Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) mapping or modeling; review and edit digital maps and DTM files compiled by in-house staff or contract vendors, following standard specifications and procedures; perform special tasks and assignments which may include contract vendor mapping checks and DTM quality and accuracy analysis; carry out or assist in the acquisition, inspection and evaluation of aerial photography, LiDAR services, including coordination with design staff, and the preparation of written correspondence and specifications; and monitor project schedules and technical requirements.

Qualifications

 

Mapping Technologist 1, SG17 (Program Management – Planning and Analysis)

    • Have a thorough knowledge of mapping theory and principles and the ability to apply this knowledge in evaluating and preparing mapping products.
    • Act is project manager on automated cartographic production projects.
    • Be responsible for the management of computer-based cartographic information.
    • Develop, or assist in the development and maintenance of, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and/or carryout or assist with photogrammetry related tasks such as inspecting and evaluating contractor prepared aerial photography.
    • Provide all Divisions at OGS D&C with expertise in project planning, organizational planning and documentation utilizing GIS.
    • Provide desktop assessments of various environmental layers to aid in site planning and analysis.
    • Perform GIS visual analysis of project impacts for sites within sensitive viewsheds such as the Adirondack Park Agency.
    • Install, maintain, and use the Geographic Information System.
    • Assist in supervision, project controls, training of subordinate personnel, map design, project planning, and specification and procedure writing.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Some travel may be required.

- Compensation: Min: $30/hr - Max: $50/hr.

- The range provided is the salary that the Firm, in good faith, believes at the time of this posting is willing to pay for the advertised position.  Exact compensation will be determined based on individual candidate's qualifications and location.
