We have an immediate need for a Civil Inspector for our Staten Island location.

Recently, Global Infrastructure Solutions Inc. (GISI), the parent company of The LiRo Group and Hill International, Inc. consolidated a portion of the highly experienced staff of both LiRo and Hill in the Northeast to create a larger, more efficient, and cost-effective team to serve clients.  LiRo-Hill is a 1100-person firm with offices in NYC, Long Island, Buffalo, Rochester, Boston and Metro Park, NJ.

Responsibilities

Summary of Duties: Oversee and verify construction activities, reading and understanding construction documents, maintain field records.

Adhere to safety requirements and informing Resident Engineer about unsafe conditions and non-conforming work in the field.

  • Inspect construction work to ensure compliance with building standards and project specifications
  • Inspect all material upon arrival to the jobsite to ensure compliance
  • Document inspections and report any issues
  • Coordinate scheduling of subcontractors, consultants, inspectors and vendors to complete each project on time
  • Monitor work and materials to ensure quality control standards are met at various stages of the project
  • Perform inspections or schedule inspectors to meet the varying safety and compliance regulations of each job location
  • Maintain a written daily log of visitors, job actions performed, materials expended, and problems resolved on the job site
  • Travel between multiple job sites and simultaneously manage work loads of individual projects
  • Identify and resolve problems and conflicts, organizing meetings and cooperating with team members in various roles as necessary

Qualifications

  • Key Qualifications (Skills, Education, Experience):
    • Experience: Experience with excavation and trench work, including but not limited to sewer, drainage, electrical, gas, communication, etc. Experience with grading, fill placement and roadway and sidewalk installation.
    • Education: Construction Management or Engineering preferred.
    • Skills: Must be able to use all Microsoft products (outlook, teams, word, excel) and proficient with Adobe. Knowledge of Visio preferred but not required.
  • Certifications or Licenses (if required): NICET level 2 or higher preferred.

-Compensation:  Minimum: $35.00ph: $55.00ph.  The range provided is the salary that the Firm in good faith believes at the time of this posting is willing to pay for the advertised position.  Exact compensation will be determined on the individual candidates’ qualifications and location.
